Reflection Project

Throughout this project, I have greatly expanded my ability to edit on Capcut. Capcut is the main editing application I used to make this project possible. Something I learned how to do on Capcut was voiceover. I used voiceover in my video to sort of narrate the entire thing while a background video and song were playing. I had to learn how to exactly do this, and it wasn't easy. I did a lot of cropping, having to match the clips exactly to sync the background, and captions were the hardest part for me. I went through many YouTube tutorials and even had to ask my brother for help sometimes. I edited the captions many times to get it to look exactly how it was shown. Yeah, it wasn't easy, but I managed to make my commercial the best it could be at the end, and I believe I did my best. 

Another skill I had to learn was to use external resources for my use. Especially editing applications, like it was a pain, having to learn everything as an inexperienced beginner was humbling. I also had to learn how to complete a project in a timely and healthy manner. Through, this project, though, I learned that it's important to time manage. I as well learned the importance of analyzing everything you do because I wrote about it every time I blogged. It's also cool that I learned how to value time when putting this project together. These are all important skills and experiences that I went though and learned from during this. 

Something I believe I can do better on in the next project is expand my knowledge even further on the utility of editing applications. I could always watch more tutorials online and make the next project even better. I could practice making smaller project in my free time on top of that. This would help me become more experienced in utilizing applications such as Capcut. I could have also improved in putting more time into the small things like items. Finally, my voiceover needs improvement. If I can record a perfect voiceover in a few takes, then I think my next project would present improvement. I still believe I did a really good job on my project, but it can still be improved and will be improved in the future.

Movie Research: Inception

 Hello, my name is Jose Retana. What conventions of this genre did I see in this movie? This movie has a lot of medium camera conventions like medium shots and medium close ups, helping us see the background while also keeping in touch with the characters emotions. I as well took note of the mix between diegetic and non-diegetic sound, mostly notably in the intro of the movie. Also, the use of sound bridges add layers and smooth transitions. Probably the highlight convention throughout the entirety of this film is cross-cutting, used in the intro and the final scene. Sets and lighting play a major part in this film, which is common for psychological thrillers.  What conventions did I like? Production Blog- Testing Around with CapCut

My name is Jose Retana, and I will be talking about editing my commercial today. As of this moment, I have not started but I have my video and pictures ready. The editing platform I will be using to edit my commercial will be CapCut. The reason I did not choose any other editing application was because most cost money (such as Ae), or they are too complicated (such as AlightMotion). Additionally, CapCut provides mobile support for editing on the go, which I find convenient. My teacher also recommended CapCut for the editing of this commercial, so it's probably best that I listen. My problem with using CapCut, though, is that I have minimal experience. So, I will be asking my sibling for some help because he is actually decently experienced at using the editing platform.
