Reflection Project

Image
Throughout this project, I have greatly expanded my ability to edit on Capcut. Capcut is the main editing application I used to make this project possible. Something I learned how to do on Capcut was voiceover. I used voiceover in my video to sort of narrate the entire thing while a background video and song were playing. I had to learn how to exactly do this, and it wasn't easy. I did a lot of cropping, having to match the clips exactly to sync the background, and captions were the hardest part for me. I went through many YouTube tutorials and even had to ask my brother for help sometimes. I edited the captions many times to get it to look exactly how it was shown. Yeah, it wasn't easy, but I managed to make my commercial the best it could be at the end, and I believe I did my best.  Another skill I had to learn was to use external resources for my use. Especially editing applications, like it was a pain, having to learn everything as an inexperienced beginner was humbling. I

Production Blog: Final Changes

Image
Hello bloggers, my name is Jose Retana and today I will be wrapping up my production. Continuing on from the last blog, I ultimately did decide to change the song choice. I also chose Lofi to replace it, I know kind of lame but cool to me. Here is the YouTube link to the video, I'm going to choose the first song by the way. Credit to sheprays on YouTube. https://youtu.be/NKdJ-xV-p_g?si=s3KOjUhet51E2-NG Other than that, I scrapped the caption format I talked about a few blogs earlier and decided on another. I decided on going with just having text pop up whenever I need it to, like when I'm showing an image on the screen. I almost redid the entire video with that move to make it a little more creative. It's kind of hard to imagine that, so let me try to describe my commercial in depth because I've done a lot of final changes and I am pretty much finished.  When you open the commercial, you're greeted with a title "My Production Blog" with an animated font.

Production Blog: My Video

Hello bloggers, my name is Jose Retana. Right now, I will be talking you through my process of wrapping up before I get to my reflection. Today will include the things I missed last time such as a caption for my video, any necessary titles, a list of items, and a redo of my video (explaining later). For the development of my commercial, I started off with a list of items that I included in the end. It's kind of just like a PowerPoint-like slide in which so far, I only included my iPhone camera. Yes, I was kind of rushing through it, but I will get more items on there before the next production blog. Moving on, I did get a title in there at the beginning of the project title "All About Me Commercial." Furthermore, from now is the main points of this blog. I redid my video. The reason I did this was because I wasn't satisfied with me just running. Sure, I love running, but I love basketball more. That's why I put in a video of me playing basketball at my local cour

Production Blog- Captioning Photos

Image
My name is Jose Retana, and I will be talking about my experience with producing my commercial so far. Today I will mainly try to focus on captioning because I believe it covers a lot of story and it's best to know what you're looking at. The reason I talk about this so much here though, is because this is mainly what will be explaining myself. I will talk about my thought process in each of the image's captioning. Let's move onto the first image now. So, my first image was a simple point-at-the-mirror type of selfie of myself. I added this picture somewhere in the intro (still figuring out), and my main reason for this picture being here was to introduce what I look like. When I was captioning this, I needed to tell the viewer what was going on. So, I captioned it: "Introduction to what I look like, 5'9, Hispanic, and one of my hobbies is playing basketball", and with a cool little emoji at the end. That was the most straightforward caption I could think

Production Blog- Testing Around with CapCut

My name is Jose Retana, and I will be talking about editing my commercial today. As of this moment, I have not started but I have my video and pictures ready. The editing platform I will be using to edit my commercial will be CapCut. The reason I did not choose any other editing application was because most cost money (such as Ae), or they are too complicated (such as AlightMotion). Additionally, CapCut provides mobile support for editing on the go, which I find convenient. My teacher also recommended CapCut for the editing of this commercial, so it's probably best that I listen. My problem with using CapCut, though, is that I have minimal experience. So, I will be asking my sibling for some help because he is actually decently experienced at using the editing platform. Right now, I will download CapCut and insert my video along with my pictures.  Update: I downloaded CapCut and put in my video along with my pictures. Because of my inexperience with CapCut, I did end up learning ne

Research and Planning- Pictures found

So, for my pictures, I chose to include all real pictures of myself. I decided on three to add to my project. The selection of the photos was nothing special, I just looked back on my camera roll. I don't often take pictures of myself, but I was still able to select three that I think will fit best in my commercial. I can't attach them with this blog, or the video as well because I don't know how to. I can do so with the song because it isn't part of my camera roll, but I will discuss it a little later. So, for my video, I actually did not have a video of myself, so I had to go and record myself doing something. I ended up choosing to just run in silence throughout the video because I love running and I didn't know what else to put in. Again, I can't attach the video file because I can't do so.  For my song choice, I chose one song only and that song is "Jump" by JPRO. I have a good reason for my song choice. One, I love the lyrics. Everything abou

My Intro

Hello my name is Jose R, I am 15 years old. I am a sophomore in high school. My birthday is next month, I hope it will be one to remember. One thing I love to do is play basketball, which I am still mediocre at. I also enjoy the watching aspect of the sport, I love watching leagues like the NBA. My favorite team has to be the Milwaukee Bucks, mostly because of Giannis though. Cool guy, but my favorite player of all time is by far Kobe Bryant. His mentality is one to be remembered and is one of the reasons I play basketball so much. There’s also Dennis Rodman, also one of my favorite players of the game. His rebound ability is a symbol of determination to your craft. I really respect the sport of basketball and I love to watch it. Another hobby of mine is watching movies. Recently, I went on an entire binge watching spree of good movies and TV shows. My favorite of all of these was a show called Mr. Robot. It’s about an antisocial hacker called Elliot that tries to find his place in so
