Introduction Blog: Back!!


You already know a lot about me, but let me introduce myself again. My name is Jose Retana, I’m in AICE Media and I’m going to begin on a large project. This large project is about making the intro to a movie. I think I’ll do really good on this because I say I’m a creative person, and I believe that. 

Of course, I’ll have a lot of time to talk about my project. Let’s talk about myself. I’ve said this a lot before in my old blogs, but I love the Milwaukee Bucks. They’re an NBA basketball team centered around Milwaukee, Chicago. They’re one of the best basketball teams out there right now. They literally have the second best record in the entire league, they’re tough for sure. I’d say my favorite player on the team right now is Giannis. He’s a humble dude and he’s arguably the best player on the team.

Another thing I like is playing video games. I sort of enjoy playing Fortnite but it’s really falling off nowadays. It’s the only thing I played during my Thanksgiving Break, it was fun. Now, it’s “meh” I guess. I actually started playing a cool game recently called Resident Evil 4 (2005), and I really like it. You kind of just shoot zombies and stuff although I can’t tell you much because I just started. I think it’s a good game for the time period it was made. 

That’s really it about me, I cant think of much more. Luckily, we have lots of blogs upcoming soon, so I’ll have much more time to talk. See you again bloggers.

Movie Research: Inception

 Hello, my name is Jose Retana. What conventions of this genre did I see in this movie? This movie has a lot of medium camera conventions like medium shots and medium close ups, helping us see the background while also keeping in touch with the characters emotions. I as well took note of the mix between diegetic and non-diegetic sound, mostly notably in the intro of the movie. Also, the use of sound bridges add layers and smooth transitions. Probably the highlight convention throughout the entirety of this film is cross-cutting, used in the intro and the final scene. Sets and lighting play a major part in this film, which is common for psychological thrillers.  What conventions did I like? I especially liked the use of sets and lighting in this movie, which is common is psychological thrillers. It created a sense of tone and vibe to it. The cross-cutting I liked as well. Production Blog- Testing Around with CapCut

My name is Jose Retana, and I will be talking about editing my commercial today. As of this moment, I have not started but I have my video and pictures ready. The editing platform I will be using to edit my commercial will be CapCut. The reason I did not choose any other editing application was because most cost money (such as Ae), or they are too complicated (such as AlightMotion). Additionally, CapCut provides mobile support for editing on the go, which I find convenient. My teacher also recommended CapCut for the editing of this commercial, so it's probably best that I listen. My problem with using CapCut, though, is that I have minimal experience. So, I will be asking my sibling for some help because he is actually decently experienced at using the editing platform.
