Title Research



 Hello, my name is Jose Retana.

Today I researched watchthetitles.com and artofthetitle.com. I researched these sites in order to get a feel of what is expected of me when I make my own opening sequence. I looked at the websites opening sequences, observed them and asked myself why a certain thing was added. This helped me in my purpose of looking for a standard to meet. What also helped was seeking different conventions used throughout opening sequences. This helped me to visualize what I need. The researching of these sites as well gave me a large range of film opening sequences to choose from. Another reason I am researching the sites is that this it gives insight/behind the scene of the people who made the opening sequence. This helped further my analysis in breaking down these opening sequences. Researching this site has given me good references.

Later today I will begin to analyze specific films. I will mostly be analyzing the opening sequence but this time ones in my own genre. I believe that these sites are going to be a useful resource and reference I could use. See you again bloggers.

Movie Research: Inception

 Hello, my name is Jose Retana. What conventions of this genre did I see in this movie? This movie has a lot of medium camera conventions like medium shots and medium close ups, helping us see the background while also keeping in touch with the characters emotions. I as well took note of the mix between diegetic and non-diegetic sound, mostly notably in the intro of the movie. Also, the use of sound bridges add layers and smooth transitions. Probably the highlight convention throughout the entirety of this film is cross-cutting, used in the intro and the final scene. Sets and lighting play a major part in this film, which is common for psychological thrillers.  What conventions did I like? I especially liked the use of sets and lighting in this movie, which is common is psychological thrillers. It created a sense of tone and vibe to it. The cross-cutting I liked as well. Production Blog- Testing Around with CapCut

My name is Jose Retana, and I will be talking about editing my commercial today. As of this moment, I have not started but I have my video and pictures ready. The editing platform I will be using to edit my commercial will be CapCut. The reason I did not choose any other editing application was because most cost money (such as Ae), or they are too complicated (such as AlightMotion). Additionally, CapCut provides mobile support for editing on the go, which I find convenient. My teacher also recommended CapCut for the editing of this commercial, so it's probably best that I listen. My problem with using CapCut, though, is that I have minimal experience. So, I will be asking my sibling for some help because he is actually decently experienced at using the editing platform.
